'So What?'

The mind is devious. Its always looking for ways to get one up on you. Like an imp it swings us through a gamut of emotions taking us all on a merry ride. It takes some practice to be on the alert to control the antics of the mind. The mind has an ally, the ego, that helps it get a grip on our emotions, on our lives.
This is how it happens.....thoughts keep flitting in and out of our head; When its a happy thought the mind seems to disappear as we dissolve into that feeling of joy. When you're really happy the mind doesn't pop in and say,' Hey, why are you so happy?'; but when a negative thought walks in, then the mind takes over. It stealthily moves upto the ego and whispers,'How dare they hurt you?', 'You are no good','You deserve to be recognized!' and then they are off on a mad ride. It's like an out of control car careening around hairpin bends, inside of you.
There is but one way to stop that, just wake up and realize that it's not the mind but you who is calling the shots! Just slam on the brakes, shrug your shoulders and say 'So What?.
The minute you say that,'poof' they vanish and your back in the drivers seat!
I know it's not an easy thing to do, but even if we manage a couple of 'so whats' everyday, it will enable us to chart our course and enjoy the ride.
